Sharon Collins grew up in rural Quebec. She attended the University of Ottawa and obtained her medical degree and specialty in internal medicine in 1977. Moving to northern Ontario to practice medicine, she settled in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and raised a family of 3 children with her husband. She now lives in Arnprior, Ontario. Sharon is retired from medicine and is a full time artist.
Her zeal for artistic expression began in university with painting as her medium of choice. In the 1990’s she explored art glass; her commissioned glass work can be seen in commercial establishments and private residences across Canada and the USA. In 1996 a quilting class became a catalyst for an unquenchable passion for creating fibre art. She has had her art juried into national and international shows.
In more recent years she has returned to painting acrylics and watercolours as her medium of choice. Her pieces can be nature inspired but often are imagined abstractions.
