Manfred is a Kanata- based photographer who specializes in travel photography, portraiture and still life work. With the COVID-19 pandemic both travel and studio portraiture possibilities became very limited, which pushed him to explore the opportunities of still life photography.
An engineer by profession (he holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Queen’s) and a photographer by passion since high school (many years ago), Manfred has studied photography part-time in recent years at both Algonquin College and the School of Photographic Arts – Ottawa (SPAO). He is a member of the Canadian Association of Photographic Art (CAPA). As a CAPA Certified Judge, he is frequently invited to sit on photographic juries across Canada. He is very active in the Ottawa photographic community and is on the executive of both the RA Photo Club and the Kanata Seniors’ Centre Camera Club.
Manfred prints most of his own photographs using pigment inks on fine art paper, carefully selecting the print media that best expresses the mood of his work. Over the past five years, he has won over 60 local, national and international awards for his work, including the IAAP Gold Medal at the 2022 Toronto International Salon. His photographs have also been published in Canadian Magazines (Canadian Geographic Travel, Canadian Camera and the Ottawa Business Journal).
