Lauren Henry’s paintings in oil and acrylic are inspired by the rocks, trees and lakes of Northern Ontario, where she grew up and returns to frequently. A fan of native art, she strives to portray the sacred in nature. Making use of bold forms and sometimes muted, sometimes vibrant colours to interpret her subject, she works to create a feeling of harmony and awe with nature.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Toronto, and studied graphic design and illustration at Sheridan College. After many years of working as a graphic artist in various positions throughout Ontario in the printing/publishing industry, she has returned to her first love and is now painting full time. She has shown her art at different venues including the former Art Lending of Ottawa and the Nepean Visual Arts Centre, and her work is in private collections around the region.
