Janis Miller Hall is a multi-media artist from Kanata, Ontario. Her love of drawing started in high school and this led to her pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Art and Art history from the University of Toronto as well as a Creative Arts Diploma from Sheridan College in Oakville. Janis considers life drawing to be the best way for an artists to develop the drawing and “seeing” skills needed for all forms of visual art including abstract.

Since coming to the Ottawa area in the early 1990’s Janis feel very lucky to have been able to participate in the many life drawing workshops available here. She has also taught drawing and painting for the city of Ottawa, Wallack’s in Bell’s Corners and different art groups in the area.

Her work can be seen regularly at the Kanata Civic Art Gallery, by appointment at her home studio, or during the Kanata Artists Studio Tour which takes place the first weekend in May. Her paintings hang in many private and corporate collections throughout Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean including the city of Ottawa’s collection.
