Dear Artists,

Artists are invited to submit an application to have their work juried for exhibition in the Kanata Civic Art Gallery. The Kanata Civic Art Gallery operates as a co-operative, and the hours of operation are staffed on a voluntary basis by its artist members. Members are responsible for staffing the Gallery a minimum of 10 shifts per year ( approx. 3.5 hrs. per month ) as well as actively participating in the running of the Gallery.

Each Gallery member must maintain a regular production of original artwork for exhibition. Approximately nine new exhibitions are presented each year. All work shown in the Gallery must be for sale, and artists will be paid within 30 days of a sale with a 15% commission retained by the Gallery. The success of the Gallery depends on the commitment of its members to present creative, and high quality artwork for exhibition to the public.

The annual fee for membership is $120.00.

Please follow this link to submit an online application form ( printable copy ) to be juried if you have a body of work, and are willing, and able to fulfill the Gallery’s volunteer requirements.

All applications for jurying must be received by 8:00pm, Friday, December 1st, 2017. Please note that sculpture, woodworking, ceramics & photography are all welcome.

The application procedure is as follows:

     Step One

  1. 1. Submit an online application form. Application forms may also be downloaded, printed, and delivered to the Gallery by mail or by hand, but images must be delivered electronically.


2.  Electronically deliver, as outlined on the form, (I) 10 digital images of your recent work, (II) a one page biography outlining your art related experience/education as well as any statement you wish to make about your artistic direction or motivation. (III) Image list as described below.  

3.  Images must be numbered, and correspond to an accompanying image list indicating number, size, media, title and year of completion. Images should be JPEG files, with the shortest side no less than 1200 pixels.

  1. 4. All submission and support material must be clearly marked with your name and contact info.


    Step Two

A non-refundable jury fee of $25.00 must be paid when artwork is dropped off.

1.  Submit four (4) original pieces, that show a consistent body of work, and that are framed and ready to hang. Please note that how your artwork is framed is also evaluated in the jurying process. All efforts will be made to insure the safety of the work submitted.

2.  Deliver artworks to the Kanata Civic Art Gallery, on Friday, January. 5th by 8pm.   

3.  Pick up artworks from the Kanata Civic Art Gallery on Saturday, January 6th, between 1:30pm and 4pm. If you cannot pick up the work yourself, please make arrangements to have someone come in your place to collect the artwork.

  1. 4. Applicants will be notified of the jury results by email. Be sure to include your email address in your application form.
